How did her parents Brian Wilson and Melinda Ledbetter meet?

In 1986, while working at the car dealership, Ledbetter met Brian Wilson. At the time, Wilson had been a patient under Eugene Landy’s 24-hour therapy program. They dated from 1986 to late 1989. Ledbetter stated that the relationship ended prematurely due to interference from Landy.

Six months after meeting Wilson, Ledbetter had reported Wilson’s psychiatrist, Landy to the state’s attorney general for ethical violations, but they informed her that nothing could be done without the cooperation of Wilson’s family. According to Ledbetter, Landy ordered Wilson to sever ties with her in 1989, “when we [Brian and I] started to get serious”.

After Wilson parted ways with his psychiatrist, in 1991, he and Ledbetter reconnected and got married on February 6, 1995. Since 1999, Ledbetter has been Wilson’s manager, a job which she has said is “basically negotiating, and that’s what I did every single day when I sold cars.”

They adopted five children: Daria Rose (born 1996), Delanie Rae (born 1998), Dylan (born 2004), Dash (born 2009), and Dakota Rose (born 2010).

Before Ledbetter, Daria Rose’s father Brian Wilson was married to  Marilyn Wilson-Rutherford (m. 1964–1979). Marilyn began dating Brian Wilson when she was 15 and he was 21. They initially concealed their relationship from outsiders. In December 1964 after a year of quietly dating, a 22-year-old Brian Wilson married a 16-year-old Marilyn Rovell. In July 1978, Wilson and Marilyn separated, with Wilson filing for divorce in January 1979. Marilyn was given custody of their children and half of a share of Wilson’s songwriting royalties.
