Laurence Allen Elder is a conservative talk radio host and right-wing political commentator from the United States. He was born on April 27, 1952.

California-based Larry Elder hosts The Larry Elder Show. In 1993, the show debuted as a local program on the Los Angeles radio station KABC. It lasted until 2008, then returned to KABC for a second run from 2010 to 2014.

From 2002 to 2007, the show was syndicated nationally through ABC Radio Networks, then Salem Media Group from 2015 to 2022. He maintains ties to the Falun Gong movement’s far-right newspaper, The Epoch Times.

Elder, who worked as an attorney, has written nonfiction books and a column that Creators Syndicate syndicated nationally.

In 2021, he initially campaigned for chosen position, as a conservative competitor in the referendum of California’s Vote based lead representative, Gavin Newsom. Elder came in first among the candidates for replacement, so the recall was decisively defeated.

His father, Randolph, was born in Athens, Georgia, in 1915. During World War II, he was a sergeant in the US Marine Corps. During the Second Great Migration, he moved from Georgia to California after the war. Larry was born to Viola Conley Elder.
